It has been a busy week sharing books you’ve sent to us for the first Super Comic Thursday, for consideration in the ComicScene Awards and searching through new crowdfunders. We are also prepping our own books, preparing for the ComicScene 6 month subscription Crowdfunder and a wee trip to Thought Bubble in November.
It’s been a while since we covered the short comics collection “A day on the river (and other stories)”, in 2023, by Giorgio Pandiani who is an Italian comics and graphic novels author who moved to the UK in 2020.
His new short comic is finished! It’s called “The two pyramids”, that was launched on Small Press Day 2026, 25 July and it already received a couple of very positive reviews: one by Broken Frontier and another one in Italy. Giorgio has submitted it for the ComicScene Awards. You can submit your comic before the end of December. Details here.
As above... not so below. Two sisters find what they're looking for inside an ancient dungeon but nothing is what it seems.
Although set in a distant future, “The two pyramids” is a very personal story about the danger of trading democracy for comfort, and how art and artists could help, or not, in this process. Get your copy here https://giorgiopandianiart.etsy.com

Roge is an indie comics creator from the UK, and he has a new comic book out: Milling Witless. It’s a darkly comic, small‑press cartoon book - part satire, part absurdism, part chaos. It’s like unearthing fragments of long‑lost comic strips all flung together in a glorious, chaotic heap to create narratives that behave like hallucinations, not timelines.
Carla Jackles is an independent illustrator from Wales and the writer and illustrator of Fresh Ones, a self-published graphic novel exploring the impact of social media on teenagers through a dark, horror-inspired story.
Fresh Ones was self-published in Sept 2026 and is currently available to purchase through Amazon. I am an independent illustrator and creator based in Wales.
Fresh Ones is a dark graphic novel exploring the impact of social media on teenagers. When siblings Cody and Rowan become increasingly absorbed in the online world, their small-town life takes a disturbing turn. Blending horror, humour and visual storytelling, the story explores identity, comparison, online influence and the pressure to present a perfect version of yourself. With a distinctive illustrated style and a growing sense of unease, Fresh Ones asks what happens when the things we consume online begin to consume us.
Daniel A. Prim, is an independent comic creator from the UK and has submitted his my graphic novel,The Last Arrival, for consideration.
Five aliens arrive on Earth expecting first contact.
Instead, they find a dead world. Humanity is gone. No warning. No bodies. No explanation. Only traces remain, scattered across empty cities, in the form of strange comic books that seem to depict fragments of what happened here and what may still be happening. At first, the books feel like fiction. Then the details start matching the world around them. And reality begins to break.
The whole graphic novel has been 20 years in the making and published over 10 years in single issues.
